Leslie Diestelkamp

First Editor of Think

About Leslie Diestelkamp:

Leslie Diestelkamp, (1911-1995), served as the first editor of Think, from 1969 until 1989. He had previously helped start Truth Magazine and served as an associate editor through the first five plus years of its existence. However, it was his desire to publish a paper “in the interest of purity of doctrine and practice” that could be distributed free to all who wished to receive it, so this family paper was born in 1969.

Leslie and his first wife, Alice (Wright) were married for 41 years before her death in 1973. They were the parents of five children: Wanda (Hodges), Karl, Lavon (Speer), Al, and Roy. He married Myrtle (Benedict) in 1976 who survived him only five months following his death in September, 1995.

Leslie left his native Missouri in 1943 to begin preaching the gospel in needy fields, serving with churches in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Illinois, as well as foreign evangelism in Nigeria and Australia.
